Of Pics and Gifts

Hanep talaga ang nagagawa ng natural outdoor light(was does a redundant thing to say?) ! Can't hide the wrinkles noh?

Taken last Christmas at our garage. Diego at 5 and Andee at 9. Wished I took them to the photo studio instead-- I need to put that on my checklist!

Also had our picture taken with my brothers and Mama. Earl came home for the holidays from Dubai, and had to take this opportunity to have our picture taken together again--had fun doing that!

The Christmas tree that time was adorned with the usual, plus candy canes that Mama placed the night before. Gifts were bigger as most of them came in boxes this year!!! Diego's wish to receive an Optimus Prime robot was granted by his dad, in addition to a few more things. Ditto with Andee--- her usual 'anything-basta-Bratts' and/or 'Disney Princess' and/or 'High School' musical ek-ek was also received. Gifted her (again) with another set of books, this time, Grolier's 24-volume I Wonder Why. And since Diego has been bugging me the whole year for Transformers or Dinosaur toys, gave him a set of 4 Dinosaurs that transforms to a robot, and a remote-controlled car which he played with the whole afternoon.

This year, the kids got a lot of gifts to open. Signs of the times ba? I'm glad they enjoyed this Christmas. Their dad picked them up to take them over to their side's family reunion. Andee was begging me the week before to go with them. I had to honestly decline. I know I hurt her but I don't want to ruin anything either. Well, they did enjoyed, and that was it. They were 'returned' home at around 1:30am Dec. 26th, with enough moolah from their ninongs and ninangs to watch Disney's Amazing Journey on Ice this January! Ako naman ang mamomoblema to pay for my own ticket!! Cige na nga!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!!

Was working Christmas eve and got home on Christmas Day at around 7am in time to help out in last minute preparations for our Christmas Family Reunion lunch. Did my contribution of Green Mango Salad with Coriander, Pork Meatballs, and, later in the early evening, Chicken Pandan with KangKong. Kala mo originals hehe. May konting embellishments yan, so to speak. Hit ang Green Mango Salad, hehe. I'm planning to put up a separate recipe corner for me to share to you all. Hope I'd get the time to really work on it though. Anyway.... more details next time!
Merry Christmas to All!

Let's Imagine with Barney

Took the kids out last night, thanks to Cak, at the Araneta Center Coliseum in Cubao to watch Barney's Let's Imagine World Tour. We had early dinner at the Gateway Mall and met with Cak for the tickets. Andee enjoyed the show more, singing and dancing along. Diego says it's boring. I'd say, it's a kiddie treat if they grew up with Barney, especially for kids up to Diego's age, but this thinks it's too 'kiddie'. As for Andee, it's 'fun'. Oh well. Strolled around the Gateway Mall before going home. Buti nalang mababait at 'hindi masyadong' nagkulit na magpabili ng kung anu-ano! .. except maybe Diego whose battlecry right now is "Mama, toy!". It's two more days before Christmas guys!!! *kiss*

In embers--, not in flames

I was awakened this morning at around 9:30am by chaos downstairs in the living room. Got home at 1:30am from our team's christmas party, and surprisingly (no hangover whatsoever after a trio-shared 1 and 1/2 bottle of tequila) I was able to get up with ease. When I opened my door, the living room is in smoke.. and it smelled like something burned. Anong nangyari?!?!?

It was just after they found mama's batik robe completely burnt, actually, almost nothing was left of it. The back rest of the chair is of wood and it was scarred. Mama left her robe at the back rest of the computer chair at the library the day before. She was on the phone when she smelled smoke. They traced it at the library and found her robe in 'embers' not in flames. If the robe caught fire, then, by what?!?!? Why was the robe in embers?!? Why wasn't there any smell of smoke beforehand as the library's door was open? Why then??!?! Yaya Wilma said she went in the library minutes before it happened but noticed or smelled nothing unusual.

?!?!?!?!?

CHARICE PEMPENGCO on Ellen DeGeneres Show

Wala akong masabi!!!!! It was Sam Concepcion who won at the Little Big Star contest around 2-3 years ago. Our bet was then 12 year old Charice, we really like her-- gave us goosebumps everytime she sings. Kaso siyempre--- because Sam came off much like a matinee idol already, he won the contest, with Charice only as a runner-up! I never got the chance to watch this on Ellen's show. Anyway, enjoy please, as much as we did!!!

Harry's mine!

Christmas comes early for me this year as I finally got myself (hard-earned!) a complete set of Harry Potter Books 1-7! No, was not able to get it all together in the promotional Hogwarts chest, which came out 3 days AFTER I got the set---but then again, happy na ko. The first 6 came in this sturdy cardboard box, however the 7th book was at it's lonesome.

The books are sitting on the table at the library at home still in it's original plastic cover untouch. It's like if I open it, mawawala ang value!! Parang ang arte ano?!

The tale of Trillanes

It was about half past two in the afternoon on November 29th when I was awaken by my usual "You've got a text message, your Royal Sexiness" message alert from my cellphone. It was 30 minutes earlier than my usual wake-up time before I get ready for work. It was a text message from work, and it read: "Armed soldiers led by Magdalo Heads and ex-VP Guingona are having a press-con at the Mla. Pen Hotel right now as a result of the Magdalo hearing at the makati City Hall. Reports say that the group might call for a nationwide rally against the gov't. All employees and trainees are advised to stay inside the ofc for safety reasons, while those who are on their way to work shld stay away frm the vicinity of Mla. Pen (Ayala cor. Mkt. Ave.)" Great. And they say they are doing this for the love of their country and for the people who are suffering! Don't they see malls and condos sprouting almost everywhere? Don't they read the papers about the rise of sales for luxury items?!?! Aren't they glad of the 41.00 Php rate against the dollar?!? GRABE! Now people who are working night shifts are now placed in a situation wherein it's "go to work or not"! May pre-shift overtime pa naman akooo!!! There I was hurrying to work and surprisingly, travelling was a breeze at Buendia. Oo nga naman...pinauwi na kasi ng maaga ang mga normal na mga empleyado! Anyway, after hearing the news that the hotel main doors were destroyed by an APC and finally the drama that went on at the Mla. Pen. has ended, a new drama started at the office. Employees were a handful. Then there was another text message sent by the management: "Please be informed that Malacanang has imposed curfew 12-5am. For those shifts starting 12am-5am, we encourage you to come b4 midnight to avoid checkpoints. Chill out rooms will be prepared & free food 4 those who will come in early. Call center employees are exempted as long as you present your ID. Shuttle pick-ups will be available from MRT and LRT. Please coordinate with your supes." There were mixed reactions. Some would say that it is a prelude to martial law. Most would say, (--kasama na ako don), "buti naman". If we let this pass as if it was just another Oakwood story, we'd be probably witnessing another hotel takeover! It's like disciplining little children! It's as simple as that. Trillanes and his group just wasted precious time and effort for nothing. He also wasted the votes given by people who had faith in him--- not necesarily leading revolts, but standing up to what he believes in. Sinayang mo , chong! Good thing you were not on my list... gwapo ka pa naman! The curfew did not exactly dampen passionate working spirits at the office. Attendance was, wow! Towards and after midnight, the new shifts came in and the workfloor was back to its normal busy self. Parang walang nagyari!

Tulala

Andee took time off with her dad today. Diego was on 'day-off' with his Yaya. It was quite surprising that he showed up. It was fairly common that he'd promise a date, let the kids wait in anticipation, then stood them up. This time, he called saying that he'll be right over. Never seen Andee in a hurry to get ready.

6 hours later. Andee was crying. I was in a bad mood. She doesn't want her dad to go. She wanted him over, if not on Christmas, then New Year. I admit I may be the wicked witch here. Inasmuch that I tried to contain myself, I was still rude to him. I can't even stand talking to him. I don't like him asking me questions as if he'd still have control of what I do. It was hard since I don't want Andee being a witness to this. Ako nanaman ang masama!

Where do I stand now? Andee wanted to go out as a family. I don't think I can do it...even for her sake. But for her sake, I'd also rather not lest she hears harsh exchange of words again. I can hear Andee crying over at mama's room. She won't talk to me.

I just had to go out and be alone, or I'll be the next one crying..

Household help!

Received this from a forwarded email. Thought it was both insane and hilarious! Call it Japanese ingenuity! Let your little tyke crawl his way through your living room and help out polishing the floor while he's at it! Great idea, but imagine the dust and other particles he'll be collecting. That's rashes, allergies and asthma all in one package!

No.....probably those mop-like thingis are just to make sure the suit's sleeves and legs won't get worn out! hehe.. DUH?!?!

I shall kill your monstah!

Who would have thought that the voice behind Mr. Beaver (The Chronicles of Narnia) would give a great impact and life to the triumphs and trials of the 6'6" Norse warrior of the legendary 8th century 3,000-line long epic poem.

Watched Robert Zemekis' Beowulf in 3D at the Imax Theater (Mall of Asia) . Never really paid much attention to this epic in high school english literature-- actually never really understood it! 75% of the class got confused between Beowulf and Grendel, from the name alone, that is, which is hero or foe.

While Robert Zemekis' film adaptation contains and remains faithful to the characters and themes of the actual story, there is also a bit of 'spice' in it which involves Grendel's mother toward the movie's end. Something the would leave the viewers in thought, and something to talk about.

Visually enticing, and since it's in 3D, it gives you heart-stopping adventure and scenes, -- the cobblestones at the beach, the spear from the guard you'd swear is directly pointing inches from your face, the fight between Beowulf and Grendel, with a lot more to drool on (hehe, and you guys out there thought you've got Angelina Jolie!) --Beowulf has to strip, as he says that the 'monstah' does not have any clothing or armour, therefore he has to fight fair! OMG he can fight all he wants! The fight scene happens in all his naked splendor. But of course, it's so fast and so well done that you'd thought you've seen 'it' but...tsk.tsk..too bad...! hahaha! I like this heartwarming scene (umm..not 'exactly' heartwarming 'visually', though) when Beowulf needed to sacrifice his arm in order to slay the dragon and save his queen and mistress. It's the look on his face that makes one feel his desperation! *hikbi*

Three thumbs up! Bravo! Clap! Clap! Clap! Nood tayo ulit!

This post made me think!

This is perhaps one of the hardest posts I ever did. Hehe, my apologies to Fortuitous Faery.. but this really made me think (which I am in dire need!) trying to decipher what to do!!! This was fun! should've finished this last week.... but it's this time of year for overtime at work!!!! Anyway...

I LIKE TO BLOG because....(this is taken from one of my posts way, way back as I was starting with blogging..daya ba?)

"..... Oh well! So far my venture into this blog addiction served me well. It's the best therapy in town. From day one that I decided to open myself up to the WWW, I was able to improve my writing, be a lot more creative, discover new things and most of all, made new friends here and abroad! "

In addition, blogging gives me freedom and the responsibility not to abuse it. Blogging about the right things, opinions, or anything under the sun gives my inner feelings, mind and imagination more than enough space to 'run around'. I blog because it is a diary of events that will remain--- pages won't turn brown or tear, ink won't fade or blot, pictures won't change its colors! I also blog because people out there don't really know me. They get to see the 'real' me.. take it or leave it. Read my post one time and decide whether it's worth it coming back to read more.

I initially blogged because of my art, my kids and my cats--- but now it seems that there is an endless list of possibilities, topics, opinions, etc. that I'd never knew I'd talk about.

Here are the guidelines from Monday Morning Power:

**Start Copy Here**
We have a voice;
We must be heard;
Therefore we blog;
Now spread the word!

This directory is based on a recent post that was conducted asking the question “Why do you Blog?” and the rewrite “Why do you Blog? - Reworked.” The purpose of this directory is to tell our tales by spreading the reasons that we blog to as many sites as possible. We get to explain ourselves, direct traffic to our site and highlight our most important, most representative or most relevant post in an SEO favorable format. This will be a positive experience for everyone who wants to get involved. This will enable you to create a short advertisement for your site that will be spread across the blogesphere; a growing directory of blogs. This is an open directory. You do not have to be tagged to join in. All you have to do is follow the rules. Please let me know when you have added your site by leaving a comment on “Master List” with a link to your post. This will insure an up-to-date list, giving you even greater distribution. You then need to copy the growing list back to your site on a regular bases.

Rules:

1. Copy this post from the very beginning through **End List Directory** and place it in your archives (back date it so that it does not appear on your front page. This list is too long for your front page.) Title this post "Spread The Word" Directory
2. Copy from "**Start Copy Here**" through "**End Copy Here**"
3. Paste into a new post
4. Create an inventive post title
5. Write a brief introduction to the post.
6. Before “**End copy here**”, please add your name, site name (with link), a very brief description (2-3 sentences) of why you blog, and your most important, most representative, or most relevant post (with link.)
7. Create a link from the end of your new post to your archived Directory (Ex. "Click here for complete directory")
8. Tag others to participate. This is a request, not a requirement.
9. Leave a comment and a link to your post on “Master List.” That way I can grab your addition and add it to this growing list.
10. Schedule regular visits to the "Master List" so you can copy/paste into your archive, keeping your list current.***

ABOUT ME : I blog under my name Reia, in a blog initially put up so I can talk about my art, my kids and my cats, aptly named 'My Scratch Pad' -- a place where cats find satisfaction or relief from stress, as well as where 'humans' use for writing down thoughts, lists, or just doodle. I LIKE TO BLOG because, and I like to quote from one of my posts way, way back-- "..... It's the best therapy in town. From day one that I decided to open myself up to the WWW, I was able to improve my writing, be a lot more creative, discover new things and most of all, made new friends here and abroad! " In addition, blogging gives me freedom and the responsibility not to abuse it. I do try to get the humor out but I also get sentimental at times. One of my favorite family posts are Tears enough to rust metal and Unframed Peacock post for my art.

The 'What Ifs' of life..

I was early for work some time ago, and me and my team mate, Yna got into a series of relationship talks. We used to get into a deep discussion on the difference of "loving a person" as oppossed to "being in love with a person". This topic was a bit easy though, as the former's tendency is to a close friend..brotherly-sisterly thing, while the latter is deeper in meaning.

This time, our topic is the question of "What Ifs..?" She was pointing out that her' what ifs' theory is a main contibutor to what a person's outlook in life and self-satisfaction or fullfillment will be. There are thousands of questions about life. About ourselves, our families, our friends, our career, and relationships. The bottom line of it all is having the courage of going through life notwithstanding what might happen, just to answer certain questions and uncertainties. And another thing, is at the right and precise moment, let someone know you care and love them. Before you never get the opportunity, and before it's too late.....

Jeepney Drayber, Sweet Laber

One way of entertaining myself when I ride the jeepney is not only by observing fellow passengers, how they dressed, how they speak, etc., but by reading all the signs inside. Most common are the 'Jeepney driver, sweet lover' and 'God bless our trip' found usually near the driver's rear-view mirror. There's the famous "God know Judas not pay", or "Ang Sutsot ay sa Aso, ang Para ay sa Tao". There is one that never fails to amuse me. Jeepneys now have either buttons or strings for passengers to push or tug in order to let the driver know that they'd like to get off--- this sets a loud 'beep' or a blinding (yes, BLINDING) flash of light. 'Pull the string to stop' are among the first few original signs that I can remember. Nowadays, you'd never really know if sinasadya na lang ng sign maker, or if it were really intended to be a joke. Variations of the "Pull the string to stop" went from "Full the string to stoff"; to "Pull the string to staff" or the more pinoy "Hila tali para baba".
On my ride to work the other day, I just can't help pulling out my camphone to take this picture. Panalo! With all good intentions from the person who sells these signs that was really meant or interpreted as "Pull and I'll Stop", but as naughty as a mind as I have.......

.....ha?!?! 'yoko nga!

Diego's Halloween

It was a Halloween gig at Diego's school last Saturday, the 20th. Was argueing with Diego about just wearing his Ranger costume (the one he wore during Hugo's birthday) but he insisted. Ok lang. Si Tiangge naman bahala sa costume.

So there you go. KOF's (Kids On Focus) discourages scary costumes this year so you'd actually see a LOT of fairies, princesses, Supermans, Batmans, Flashes, and Power Rangers. Pine street was half utilized, literally became a party venue when Jollibee made a special guest appearance and danced to the tune of 'Papaya'! The kids had fun and of course, brought home bags of goodies and treats!

Student rate

This was the second time this month where my morale was boosted and ego reaching its high. Two times on separate occassions this month that I was 'charged' P6.00 jeepney fare. SIX PESOS!! I had to return the excess change the jeepney driver gave me. I've been mistaken to be years younger but this is too much! The first time was after dusk, so it was a bit dark already, so I gave that as an excuse. But this morning around 7:00am, the sun was almost up, and there were only 3 other passengers riding the jeepney, so no more excuses, right? "Ay, akala ko estudyante" ... is the response I get. Hah!

Senior citizen rate yan!
Inggit ka lang. hehe.

Thinking..

"Ganyan talaga mga lalaki-- walang pakinabang!" The company nurse said. I just shrugged my shoulders when asked where the husband is. I was (again) in a near fainting spell at the office the other night. This time it was coming from the tail of my spine going up my back. Heat-like hot flushes. Suddenly I was perspiring and hands turned ice-cold. Vision began to blurr. Blood pressure was unstable.

So that's what it felt like... you are about to be sent home at almost 12 midnight yet there's no one you can call. Way back Warner days I'd have someone at my side at the blink of an eye and be worried sick.. but that was then.

"Wala bang barkada? boyfriend? someone? special someone? who can pick you up and take you home?" the nurse asked again.

Wala e. Nalungkot ako bigla. So it boils down to this.. reality bites hard. And it hurts.

Security blankets

It was my first 15-min. break at the office last night when I checked my phone to see a missed call and a text message from my cousin, Angge. She texted that Andee was not feeling well.. di makahinga, masakit ulo and sumusuka. It was around 9pm. Called up the house. Andee was finally asleep. Yaya Wilma said it was because of a very bad cold and apparently, Andee vomited because of headaches and can't breathe because she was crying. This worried me a bit. She has been complaining of headaches. Not often though, but enough to make one feel uneasy.

Got home this morning at about 6am and went straight to their room. There she was with Diego. Both still asleep. What caught my eye is a red cloth that Andee was holding as she slept, aside from Miao-Miao (her older-than-her cat stuffed toy). Then I recognized the cloth. It was actually the red duster I was wearing last night before I changed and left for work. Suddenly my heart seemed to stop. Bumigat dibdib ko. Yaya said Andee took it from my room and held on to it while she tried to sleep. It was overwhelming. She finally found refuge. But here I am feeling guilty as ever. I wasn't there for her....

Diego's surprise

Iyak ako. Sa totoo lang.
Diego had his 1st trimestral exam for Senior Nursery in school (Kids on Focus) a week ago. Yesterday he showed me this star given to him by his teacher, along with the other scores of his exams. A perfect 60/60 combined score in Math for oral and written exams. Same with IQ (20/20 combined scores). Not far behind are his 2 other subjects, Science (49/55), and Reading (54/60).
Two weeks before that, they were being reviewed already for IQ, Math, Reading, and Science. Reviewers were also given so we can guide them at home. Fortunately, or unfortunately, I had to wait for Diego to arrive home from school at around 11:15am (I get home at 9am), wait for him to finish his lunch and would have a review session--- for about 2 minutes. 5 minutes tops!!! From the beginning, I am a bit apprehensive on how Diego would fair in school. He has always been 'up and about', parang kiti-kiti-- and has a very, very, VERY short attention span. After a few question and answers here, and a few reviews in Reading there... ayaw na niya. Exam week was soo stressful for me. Di ako mapakali. Not that I don't trust him enough to do his best, it's just that maybe I don't see enough effort from him, not like Andee. Whew.. at least now I can breathe!

Andee's 9th

Andee's birthday today is 'gloomy' by her words. Lagi nalang daw umuulan pag birthday niya. Well, baby, rainy season naman kasi eh. Their Tito Cak was supposed to treat them to Enchanted Kingdom, but the rain kept pouring the whole morning till after lunch and we have to have put Plan B into action. 'Di tayo babayad ng 600php para sumilong lang!!!' was Cak's battlecry.

Took the kids to SM Mall of Asia, apparently on the top 3 list of largest malls in the world, with SM Megamall and SM North Edsa included in the Top 10. There's unusually less people here, part perhaps obviously of the rains. Have to visit again without the kids. Haven for window shoppers as well as those who'd enjoy a fantastic view of Manila Bay (nevermind if it's a bit murky..di naman halata). Anyway... watched Deep Sea 3D at the IMAX Theater and it was a worthwhile experience. For the first time, Andee nor Diego demanded to go to the bathroom for a leak. Unlike when we would watch regular movie screenings, where almost every 20 minutes or so, they'd ask to go to the bathroom.

On the way home, we dropped by Tiendesitas to just look around. The kids were so 'high' with the Pet Village. Funny because even the cutest dog would make Andee and Diego take cover. Palibhasa nasanay sila sa pusa. As expected, we need to literally carry them out when they began begging for either a rabbit or a hamster!

Had a final stopover at McDonald's Marcos Highway at around 9:30pm. Some customer service. After we ordered, Cak at the last moment presented mama's senior citizen card when the service crew started printing the receipt. He said that once the receipt has been printed out, the card can't be honored anymore. What?!?! So I asked if they can void it. He asked the service crew beside him about it and said that it's not possible anymore. Rather baffled, I asked for a manager. I 've been with retailing for more than 13 years and I can't seem to grasp why they can't honor the card. Wawa naman some senior citizens if at the last minute they suddenly realized to present their card. Anyway... the service crew spoke with his manager, whose busy at the softdrink dispenser and I just saw the manager shook her head. Wala man lang courtesy to face us!!!! Didn't even give us a valid reason except that the receipt has been printed out!!! Pasalamat sila I wasn't in the mood.

Visitors

Again.

There are visitors in the house right now. A little girl about Andee's age who I always 'see' peeking in the bathroom or when I change in my room, almost 'solid' so to speak, in shorts and white sando, no face-- or a blank face. She follows the kids around then disappears. The second one is a teenager, don't know if it's a girl or boy, who stands by the stairs. Just a few minutes ago, he/she walked past mama's room while we were there.

The kid has been here for almost 3 weeks now. Comes and goes. The teenager, just this week. One thing that I noticed is if the weather is quite cool, here they are. Don't know if there's any connection with that. Previous experiences happened in cooler weather-- my encounter with the little ones, the lady, the man in my room, etc. All who had in one way or another 'shared time', unforgetable time -- bad... or 'good' (!?!?).

Now my brother, Ron and sister-in-law, Marlene, brought home my new 2-week old niece. Hmmm... just wondering...

Sungka

Went to St. Scho to get Andee's report card, trying much not to mind how blurred my vision is due to sore eyes-- which is sooo weird why this is. Anyway, like I described before, their report cards are now printed in paper form unlike our time when report cards ARE report cards. Lowest grade and the only grade in the line of eight, is 87 for Social Studies. Highest is 95 for Math (di mana sa akin ito) while the rest are between 90 to 92's. Trua enough too, we wagered on giving Andee a reward for good grades most especially if she'd get a perfect score on her exams, in this case, Math. Her request? SUNGKA.

Tuwa naman ako. Instead of asking for bling-blings, or knick-knacks or whatever, she prefers this. Got her one. Di na siya maawat.

Not like it used to be

It was not how I last remembered it to be. My last (fond) memory of 'sore eyes' was way back in college when, on our way home from a Channel 4 taping (yeah, may channel 4 pa non) -- our then Maryknoll College Liturgical Choir opened a morning show (forgot the name!) with a Christmas Song-- I felt itchiness and 'stickiness' in both eyes. That night, my eyes were red.

This time, now, count more than a decade and a half later, there was no itchiness felt at first, but pain. Then redness. Before, putting eye drops then was pure heaven-- cool and refreshing, and soothes the itchiness. But now, OMG! it's like your eyes are being scrapped by pins that you'd like to jump out from your seat! Very painful. Maiiyak ka sa sakit at hapdi. But then again it gets more painful because of the tears. What happened? My eyelids are more swollen, though honestly I like it -- gives me a good eyelid hehe. There is still that sandlike feel in the eye but not like how I remembered it then when it was literally like sand in your eyes. Mas malagkit ang feeling ngayon. And most of all, gave me a fever and a flu-like feeling. This is weird. It's like it's a new strain or something. I'll be back to the doctor.. why the fever, doc?!?

Barangay Sore Eyes

Andee was absent from school since Thursday last week because of sore eyes. When I got home Friday morning I wondered why Diego didn't go to school. When he looked at me, naku! sore eyes din! I couldn't help but laugh. Wawa naman. I embraced him hard and kept on laughing. Kakaawa kasi itsura niya. Sorry, but I can't help it. Not only that. Mama, Diego's yaya, my niece, Macy and her yaya also has sore eyes! Everyone was laughing-- took it lightly. Ang saya daw. Ah, ok. Laughed along. Angge, my cousin, went berserk when she found this out. There's no safe place in the house!! Hahaha! By lunchtime I was asleep. Woke up for work in the evening and left.

Was sent home. Sore eyes.

ZsaZsa c/o Carver

Re-posting Cak's update for ZsaZsa Zaturnnah (tuluy na tuloy na!) :

1. The nominees for the 30th Gawad Urian Awards have been recently released. The Zaturnnah film has been cited in the following categories: Director, Actor, Supporting Actress, Sound, Musical Score, Screenplay, and Production Design. The Gawad Urian, to be held on September 13th at the Ateneo, is given out by the film critics group Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino.

2. Negotiations are almost done for the Zaturnnah musical's first provincial performance. More on that soon.

Rumors about the provincial tour somehow 'emerged' after or during the 5th and last muzical run at the RCBC theater. Go! go! go!

August

Unusual. Peculiar. Weird. The whole month of August has passed and I only have one posting. Hmmm.... what did I do?!?! Thinking back... One of the highlights here is last month was when my brother, Earl, arrived from Dubai for a brief vacation. Finally got to have a long overdued sibling photo. Can't remember when the last one was!

My grandmother arrived in Manila on the 16th from Puerto Princesa to celebrate her 89th birthday with my mom and my titas. Tita Bing (2nd after my mom) arrived from Iloilo. Tita Ann (3rd) was granted a 4-day visit from work in Bangkok, while Tita Lang (their youngest) offered her place for their mother-daughters-birthday-celeb-cum-bonding weekend.

Diego, my 5 year old had his moment when they celebrated 'Linggo ng Wika' on the 25th in school when their whole class had a 'field demonstration' of "Ang Bawat Bata sa Ating Mundo", an APO remake of a band which name escapes me at this moment. Had a mother-son winning moment at Newspaper Dance Contest. Hah! we beat them all!!! hahaha! Never thought I can carry Diego and do a one-leg tip-toe on a 1/32 folded Bulletin Today. Finally got to meet Diego's most bragged about unofficial girlfriend, Julieanne. Cute girl! :-)

On the 26th my nephew, Hugo, celebrated his Spiderman-themed 4th birthday at KFC Marquinton here in Marikina with all kids coming in in their favorite superhero costume. A lot of kids showed up (bakit wala ito ung panahon namin!?!?!) -- Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Incredible Hulk (this kid was all GREEN and in tattered clothes obviously, and the KFC guard almost didn't let him in!), cheerleaders, Princesses, Fairies. etc.
Picture on the left shows Andee as Kim Impossible for the day, while Diego was in a camouflage number-- his Batman costume lacked the cape and now shows his bellybutton-- which might not give a good impression, har, har. Ron's kids, Jaki is Raphael--Ninja Turtle ito! and Macy had her fairy wings on. And finally, Hugo in his Spidey costume. Carol's niece, a very cute about 6-7 month old baby girl came in as Baby Darna, complete with boots emerged as the winner.
Lastly, it was my dad's birthday on Aug. 19th. He would've been 85 years old. Wondering how he might have felt if he were still with us. Wondering if we'd all be with who we are right now, or where we're working, or living with. Well... speaking for myself-- mine would've been very different. I won't have Andee or Diego. Or I probably won't be around the people I love right now. Maybe. Just thinking.

Miss Unibarse 2006

I stumbled upon Miss Unibarse 2006 while checking out friends of friend's pages at my Multiply site. This is a splendid project of F&G, --"a couple of men from the worlds of fashion, engineering, photography and social work joined together by a creative challenge that would take them to the limits of their innovative minds and competitive extremities. Their project requires patience, a sense of style, cultural detailing, a keen eye for beauty, creativity and above all dolls…welcome world to Miss Unibarse".

I find this very cute and interesting... spent most of my morning going through ALL the photos for the delegates' National Costume, Swimsuit Competition, and Evening Gown Competition, to name a few instead of checking my emails. WOW!!!! This collection is simply.... breathtaking!!! Imagine the OOOH's and AAHH's from me and Andee while we were browsing! Especially the costumes. Their official blog is a true-blue-beauty-pageant-update-blog.
Visit their site and feel 25-30 years young! -- well, for me..hehe. If you check their 'Links' tab, you'll find official web pages for different Doll Beauty Pageants-- like Miss Doll Universe, or Miss Doll Earth, among others. as well as official web sites for our usual Miss Universe, Miss International, Miss World, and Miss Earth.
Stay tuned for Miss Unibarse 2007!

Family pics

It's this time of year when schools would ask their students to bring their family pictures. And this is so with Diego--- and Andee. And this is that sort of homework 'bring-me' that gets me thinking again of how my kids will be able to cope up with what is 'missing'. Looking for a complete family picture is hard enough, since the very, very, VERY last happy one was when Diego was just 6 months old, Christmastime.

They brought the same picture. Diego had a show-and-tell in school. "This is my father, mother, sister, and me". Easy enough. With Andee, it was rather.... alarming, so to speak. Her lola showed me Andee's work with the family picture. Pasted on a sheet of paper, with flower glowpen decors and embellishments around the photo, with this short description:

"This is my family. My family is a very happy family but it became sad because my father and mother separated. My happiest moment is when we go to Star City the we rode the boat in Manila Bay. Even my mother and father are separated I'm just still happy because I have still a family."

Yeh. I cried, as usual. Her score and teacher's comment? *10* Good Job.
Thinking out loud: What if they were asked to bring more pictures?!?! The mere thought of it makes me sad cause I'm thinking now of my kids. This whole process that I am currently in to, and I just realized it-- is more like a self-centered thing-- my own selfishness. How dare do I take away suppossedly future memories of family from Andee and Diego? Why haven't I thought of the time when they would begin sharing with their friends where the whole family went on weekends? what movies they watched? what games they played? etc. etc. I remember Andee's face during a father-daughter game at a Family Day gathering in school last year, -- or Diego's closeness to his Yaya Wilma's husband, Dennis when he gets the chance to visit.

And you'd thought what I'm doing now is right. For me? My kids? I don't know. I just don't know now..

Tuyo, Tinapa and Galunggong

My sister-in-law, Carol, sent me an email with this article attached written by Bo Sanchez:

Let me tell you a story. Three construction workers were on top of their half-finished skyscraper. Rrrrring!! The lunch bell sounded, and the three men sat on a steel beam jutting out of the 56th floor with their lunch boxes in hand. The first guy opens his and groans in exasperation, "Tuyo! There is not a day that I don't get tuyo for lunch!" He turns to his buddies and announces, "Mark my words, if I still get tuyo tomorrow, I'm going to throw myself from this building!" The second guy opens his lunch box and moans, "Tinapa... Everyday, I get tinapa!" He looks at his friends and declares, "Believe me when I say this: If I get tinapa tomorrow, I'm going to jump and kill l myself!" The third guy opens his lunch box and it was his turn to despair. "Galunggong! All I get is galunggong! I'm telling you, if I still get galunggong tomorrow, I'm going to jump from this building and die!"

The next day, the lunch bell rings and all three men are again seated on the 56th floor. The first guy opens his lunch box and starts crying, "Tuyoooooo!" And so he jumps and crashes on the ground. The second guy opens his lunch box and wails loudly, "Tinapaaaa!" And he also hurls himself off the building and dies. The third guy opens his lunch box and screams, "Galunggonggggg!" And so, he too jumps off the building and splatters on the ground.

Days later, during the funeral of the three men, their three wives embrace and weep together. The first wife cries out, "I didn't know my husband didn't like tuyo anymore! Why didn't he tell me? If only he told me, I would have prepared something else." The second wife echoes her statement, "Yes... If only I knew, I would have cooked something else, not tinapa!" The third wife, between sobs, speaks up, "I don't know why my husband killed himself..." The two wives look at her curiously. "Why?" She went on, "Because my husband prepares his own lunch everyday..."

I love this crazy story because it presents a very important truth: all of us prepare our own lunch. If we don't like our jobs, if we don't like the state of our relationships, if we don't like what's happening to our spiritual lives - we have no one to blame but ourselves. Because God has given us free will. He has given us the power to prepare our own lunch. If you want to earn more and be free from debt, if you're sick and tired of your bad habits, if we want to put more joy in our marriages, if we want to grow in our relationship with God - then go back to your kitchen and prepare yourself another dish. Because you design your own future. You create your own destiny. Ask yourself what kind of future do you want to have? What kind of life? What kind of eternity? You decide. - Bo Sanchez

I have decided. And I'm working on it.

Hay, Diego..Part2

Lola: Diego, kamusta ang girlfriends mo? Diego: (no answer)
Lola: Sinong mas maganda? si Julianne or si Andrea? Diego: Si Julianne.
Lola: Bakit? Diego: Kasi nagpupulbo siya! (Aba! marunong ang baby boy! haha)
Yaya Wilma: Sinong mas maganda? si Julianne o si Mama? Diego: (Silence. Looked at his Lola then, his Yaya.)
Yaya Wilma: Sino mas maganda? Diego: (Silence.)
Lola: Hmm.. si Julianne! Yaya Wilma: Sino mas maganda? si Mama or si Julianne? Diego: (without batting an eyelash) SI JULIANNE NGA EH!!!!! Ay.. and I thought for a second there that he is having a hard time making up his mind!!!

Additional Orders please!

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the first amongst the movie series that I failed to watch on its opening day! Nasira record ko! The book is my favorite read because it is action-packed and shows more 'secrets' in regards to Sirius Black, Snape and James Potter.

Got the chance to see it at last-- with Andee-- lined up for its first screening yesterday morning after work (di na nga ako nagbihis e). We were supposed to be first in line, but a large group of Koreans beat us to it. When the tills opened 15 minutes earlier than the usual 10:30am, there was already a long, long queue.

The movie was ummm.. great?!?--- that is-- IF the screening time was twice its actual length (sobrang bitin!), IF my most awaited scenes were included.... the actual O.W.L.S. exams, Prof. McGonnagal's and Dolores Umbridge's hilarious exchanges of katarayaness (panalo!!), Sirius Black's screaming grandmother's portrait, and of course, the battle scene at the Ministry of Magic. The movie is a bit of a disappointment, as a Potter fan I was expecting more, obviously, much like when we compare the reading material to the big screen (sounds familiar, di ba teh?!?)

Those who watched the movie but were not able to read the book might be at a lost, or confused. There was not enough information about the Order of the Phoenix though. Luna Lovegod was casted perfectly! The look, the voice, everything as described in the book-- though not a bit of a background info about her being the daughter of a tabloid publisher. Overall, I'd give it a 6. Sayang. I just hope the connecton between Harry and Neville Longbottom will 'emerge' in the next movie installment.

Hay, Diego..

Diego: " Mama!!! Mama!! MAAAA--MAAAAAAHHH!!!!"
"Why, baby?"

Diego: "Dalawa girlfriend ko." (Yaya Wilma laughs out loud)
"Wha-hatt?!?? Dalawa girlfriends mo? "

Diego: "Opo, Julianne and Andrea!"

Andee: "Ako nga, 3 ang crush ko eh!"
"Naku, better have 3 crushes, than 2 girlfriends!! Maganda ba sila gaya ko at ni Ate Wilma?"

Diego: (Silence. Looks at me and his yaya) "..eh gusto ko bata eh!"

Pssst off

Umiiksi na ang pisi ko...

After Diego's birthday, their dad called up saying that he'll take the kids out supposedly last Saturday, June 30th, which, as expected, did not materialize. Again he called up Sunday, July 1st to say that he'll be taking the kids out. I was on my way out (ZZZ musical) when he asked to talk to me and kept on questioning a lot of things. In short, this lead into an arguement. Asking questions and imposing on me as if he still has a 'say' to how I run my life got to my nerves. Then he kept on shouting, the kind where he'd make sure that whoever or wherever he is at that time would hear him clearly with what he has to say... "Ang kapal ng mukha mo...", or "Anong klaseng babae ka.." etc., etc. I kept my silence. I tried so hard not to answer back at him. What right do you have right now?!?! No support whatsoever--zero. nada. not even visiting your kids?!?!?! I might say something that might compromise the case I've took almost 2 years now to file.

Di na daw niya ilalabas ang nga bata dahil "kasalanan mo at nasira ang araw ko!!!!!" . He'd now talk to Andee and Diego letting them know that he won't take them out anymore coz 'inaway ako ng mama niyo'. He would call twice again, talking with the kids again telling them it's my fault why he's not taking them out. He'd also tell yaya about this. He'd tell the kids to tell me not to go out anymore but instead take them out because their dad says so since 'inaway ko siya'.

I never really spoken bad about him.. not with the kids especially because I don't want them to think differently of their dad. But what happened is sooo unfair. It came to the point that Diego and Andee went to me and asked why I picked a fight with their dad. Ano ba yan??! And siyempre kasalanan ko nanaman. Di ko na mapigil.. I blurted out an emotion long kept from an eight year old. "Iniwan tayo ng tatay mo mas gusto niya sa ibang pamilya!". Forgive me, baby.. I shouldn't have said that.

Now I don't know what I feel right now. I've filed the case. Part of me is saying that finally I will be able to have peace of mind, yet part of me is saying.. after this, what?

If this goes on well, then great. I would be free from him bugging me or harassing me. But there's still that need of companionship that I longed for... and a new sense of reality, so to speak. A friend once mention about how and why couples get together--- a very pretty, sexy girl and a triple-her-size, short boyfriend (when there are men who, physically would be a perfect match). A well-sought of successful bachelor, tieing the knot with a single mother of one (when there are lots of single, successful no extra-baggaged ladies). I started to wonder if there's still someone out there who would accept me as I am--- used, second-hand, with extra baggages. It's a matter of choice-- or a matter of what the heart says.

Right now, I am 'alone'.
I go out once in a while with friends to keep my sanity intact, as a favor to myself, and to keep me in touch with the world. So what difference will that make? After all these, if successful, I will still be 'alone'.
The only difference is, I will be 'free'. And I'll have my surname back.

2 more for ZZZ

Was at the RCBC theater at around 2pm waiting for my team mates to arrive. Half excited and sad since this will be the first time I'd be in great company with equally high- 'sharing-a-true-sense-of-friendship-weirdness' kind of thing (mababaw ang kaligayahan, in short), who are not afraid to laugh their heart out and appreciate gay campiness, and well, sad because it's reportedly the very last of the ZsaZsa Zaturnnah muzical runs here in Manila (here in Manila--read between the lines ..hehe).

***********
I was here yesterday (June 30th 3pm) as well, with Ron, my brother mistaken to be a Carlo-Vergara look alike (hello?!?! why not?!?! magkapatid e! Even Ron's kids seem to get confused with the two at times); my sisters-in-law, Marlene and Carol, and of course, Andee. Unlike the first few runs, wherein Eula was lead, language used-- *f-ck u*, *t-ngna mo* and all!--was ok for Andee to take. However, now with K, though personally, it was funnier, I was having second thoughts if it would be ok for Andee. Good thing Andee knew better. "Play lang naman yun e" Bless you baby. Anyway...

My favorite Dodong, hunk Lauren Novero, is playing. In-love ako sa boses niya! My heart flutters and my legs buckles for guys who sing beautifully. At last I was able to see Vince as Ada. He absolutely gave a different version which I also enjoyed. Danda boses!!!!! Very clear and crisp! And wow, his adlibs and take on Ada's lines were hilarious! The only thing I don't quite like about how he portrayed our Ada, is the 'gayness' in it. Sumobra ang pagka-bading. Ada is mahinhin, much like how Tuqx portrayed it. But then, I still love them both!!! Among the Didi's, Joey Paras still has that very warm best-friend-di-kita-iiwan appeal. There's something in this very young Tommy Lee Jones' look alike that hits my heart right smack in the ribcage. Very sincere, very best friend. Nar Cabico on the otherhand, young as he is (16-17?!?) , is a goldmine. And just like the other Didi's before him, he took the limelight. Timing was perfect. Emotions were there. And to top it all, "OMG dude! he's soooo very humble" as one of my team mates would always say. Wondeful choices! Kudos to Tanghalang Pilipino!
***********

Maybe I got used to seeing K as Zaturnnah lots of times that I missed some of her adlibs when Eula took the helm. My team mates were really, really enjoying it and I was so overwhelmed that I wished Cak was sitting with us. The muzical just gets better and better and I have exactly the same sentiments as with all of the Zaturnnah fans out there--- that this muzical will have another run. Sadly, not at the near future... coz Ada, Didi, Dodong (and audience!) will have their next adventure in Manila... soon! Abangan ZsaZusunod na kabanata!

Diego's 5th

Today is Diego's 5th birthday!!!! Had to get home early and do a last-minute-panic-buying-cake for him. He comes home from school at around 11:00am so we had to rush. Mama and I went over to Marquinton's Blue Wave Mall, stopped by Red Ribbon and got a cake for him. Diego is easy to please when it comes to food (ask him what he wants for breakfast and he'll insist on tuyo or daing) so it wasn't that hard in choosing the right cake for him-- he is not that head-over-heels-gaga over specialty birthday cakes with SpongeBob or Superman on it. Good boy. :-)

Why I cried at the Zaturnnah Muzical

For the record, I think I've watched the muzical more than 10 times since the 1st run last year. And I confess that I laughed as if it was the first time I've watched it--- Really hard till my tummy ached and I swore I could've gotten near having a lock-jaw. Last night was different.

I cried.

I cried because I laughed soooo hard that not only did my tummy ached, I could not breathe. Tumigas na ang tiyan ko dahil sa sobrang tawa at hagikgik na di ko na talaga mahanapan ng lugar para isingit ang huminga. K Brosas did it. The part where Amazonista Dina B. was singing. OMG!!! "pinaliligiran ka na namin! sumuko ka na!", "lakas tama mo. pre!". Soooo hilarious!!!! K has taken Zaturnnah into really a new experience. It's impossible to compare her with Eula because they have each placed a unique take and interpretation of the red-haired bombshell.

I'll be crying again next week.

Saturday, June 23, 2007

Miao....

Wala lang... miss ko lang...

The whole week I was hoping to get as much sleep as I can. Now that it's weekend off, got home at around 10am after having breakfast with friends from the office, I can't seem to get some sleep. Bummer....

Thursday, June 21, 2007

I see dead people...

There's a different one everytime-- and it started just this week. Inside the bathroom. By my bedroom door. At the kitchen. Is the so-called portal open?!?! There seem to be a lot 'moving around' lately.

Baka naman natutuwa sa weather dahil umuulan at malamig na?

K as Z

Watched ZsaZsa Zaturnnah Ze Muzical (for God knows how many runs now) at the Carlos P. Romulo Theater, RCBC Tower in Makati., with Mama, Carol, my sis-in-law (and her officemate), Tita Lang, my cousin, Lala, and my Tita Ann, visiting from Bangkok. Unfortunately, her husband, American Tito Rick was not feeling ok that day. Sayang! According to Tita Ann, a week before their trip here to Manila, Tito Rick has the 4 year-old Zaturnnah book by his bedside.. 'reviewing' it -- . He knows how to read and understand Tagalog fairly but sometimes turn to Tita Ann to ask her what some words mean..("What's betlog? what's keps?")

Missed seeing Carlo (kamusta outing?), Zee was there and Penny also! (how I wished I could wear what she's wearing--frustration ko yon!-- long skirt and tank top!) Anywayzzzz..... K Brosas as Zaturnnah is a welcoming experience. When Ada transaforms to ZsaZsa and back-- this time I 'see' one person. Unlike the preview runs, I felt K Brosas and Tuqs Rutaquio(Ada) blended in a way that Ada/ZsaZsa is ONE person-- they talk alike and seemingly have just one personality. From afar, (loge seats) K looks like a bigger Eula Valdez-- bigger boobs and bigger voice!. Vocal-wise, Eula has my vote, though there are some songs, like "Ang Pagmumuni-muni ni ZsaZsa" where I find K's version more 'feeling' and 'sagad sa buto'. Enjoy kami. There are new things to watch out for, though I do not like it much when there wasn't any 'fight scene' anymore at the kakanin factory. Parang nagtago na lang si ZsaZsa that time, and the Amazonistas cluelessly looking for her.

I liked how they added more detail in the last part 'Ikaw and Superhero ng Buhay Ko'. Very effective! Cak mentioned it to me last week, that he suggested it for the last part though he doesn't know kung itutuloy nila. Well, they did, and I couldn't help but blurt it out loudly.."Ay!!!! tinuloy nila!!!!" Hehe--parang 1970's musical!

Will be back next weekend, the evening of the 24th AND on July 1st matinee with friends from the office. "Can't get enuf ano, Te!!"

Goodbye, Dean

Back in third year high school, ninety ek-ek, in Geography Class, we were encourage to have penpals from other countries, yup--snail mail! There was this service called IYS - International Youth Service, where we would put down our 'requirements' for a penpal, like, from what country, age, gender, likes, etc. After a week, you will be given a name and address, and you'll begin to correspond! During that time, I did have penpals from Germany, Denmark, and Tonga. Mama's best friend in Minnesota (and mama, of course), set me up with their next-door neighbor, Dean Johnson, a DJ that time, if I remember correctly.

We began corresponding and it lasted years, we each got married, had kids, and he moved from Minnesota to another state. That was when we lost track. The last letter I received from him was when he placed his email address--that was when emails were still 'greek' to a majority of people. When I got my own email, I think I emailed him once and sent a picture of Andee (then still a baby). And I never heard of him since.

The other day, I was deleting spam in my emails. For some unknown reason, it was an email I failed to delete. After refreshing the inbox my mind when blank when I saw 'Dean Johnson' as the sender amidst emails from friends and Cafepress. I opened the email and my heart sanked. It was a mass email sent out to all listed in Dean's email address book, from Tim, his brother... and it started as..

"...It is with deep sorrow that we are sending out this email....."

I immediately knew what it meant. Heart pounding, I read on...

"...On behalf of Dean's wife Kerry and his parents Frank and Lenora (Nory) Johnson, it saddens us to inform you that on June 7th, after a long battle with lung cancer and pre-existing lung problems, our brother, Dean Johnson passed away...."

I began thinking on how a great friend he was, then sharing things he like, talking about his DJ stints, his wife, Kerry, and his son. Sayang. I felt bad. My condolences to Kerry, and Dean's family. Now I realized how I missed those days waiting for his mail to arrive. He would share a picture of his cat, his picture with his favorite guitar, which right now, I am wondering where it was.

Farewell, Dean. I wished we never stopped writing to each other. But right now I know you are at peace. You are in good hands.

You complete me

This is the nth time I've watch Jerry McGuire. I enjoyed the story the first few times I've watched it and it was only this time that I cried buckets.

Perhaps this time it's different--- Being the 'only one ' with Andee and Diego, basically 'single', 'alone' or whatever wordly metaphor you can sqeeze in or think of, made me connect even more with the characters.

And so like what most people think, one can stand up alone as long as you have a mission, a goal, or a purpose. Either to snag the right endorsement for a client and feel the wave of achievement-- or raise a child as a single parent and give them a good future. Yeh, some people live that way-- and prefer it that way. Though some, like me probably, would wish to share the feeling, tell the kid's wild and funny stories, laugh at what happened at work, etc. etc. etc., to someone other than your brother or mom, or best friend, or officemate. When that will be---well, there's someone out there..
...if there is still one destined for you.....
*hikbi!* *sigh!*

Z3 to 2910

Getting home from work this morning is a relief. Relief because my darn pants are so tight (I did grew fat!) it's hard to do calls sitting down, nonetheless getting a street-map-of-manila marks across the belly, not to mention the ohh so obvious button mark in the middle; and the gwafaw of a fellow team mate because of my butt 'sticking' out.

Riding the MRT home from Makati always find myself standing near the doors even there are still a lot of seats in the ladies-children-elderly-disabled-only MRT car. As we passed the MRT Shaw station heading north, I suddenly remembered seeing Cak doing a new lay-out for Zaturnnah. Today is June 1st!!!!! ... and...AND THERE SHE WAS--- right before Poveda just as the MRT is leaving Ortigas station--- ZsaZsa Zaturnnah in her splendor (ok ba bro?!?)occupied the top billboard, promoting her 'downloads' and of course, the Muzical, come June 15th to July1st at the Carlos P. Romulo Theater at the RCBC building.

I immediately texted Cak and with all my excitement, failed to take a picture of the billboard. Hmm..... maybe I can get down Ortigas station the next time--no, sobrang gilid . Or maybe I can get the MRT driver to let me in his, umm...what do you call that?!? box? cockpit? driver's seat? to get a good picture!... nge--- too kinky ata. (Stay tuned for the pic!)

Anyway, decided to try the downloads. Text Z3 to 2910...

Har, Har, Har

.
Which reminds me.....

There was this one afternoon years ago. I was sitting at our terrace one late afternoon when our neighbor, whose house is directly in front of ours, who took their 2 big Labradors out for a doggie walk. The neighbor to our left took out their German Shepherd and well, the 3 dogs were now doing their own fashion dog show. Suddenly there was barking. The neighbor to our right, (not to be outdone probably) had their Doberman and Daschund out. What a frenzy!!! All 5 dogs are now barking at each other, with the 3 owners doing some small talk. Hmmm.... "Ilabas ko kaya si Lucky (one of my cats that time), taob silang lahat!".

I wish I did. Hehehe!

Dirty fingernail

Election Day. At around 9am, Mama, my brother Ron, and I flocked over to our local precinct here in San Roque to have our fingernail dabbed with indelible ink. As always everything is in order.

The San Roque Elementary School is clean, tidy-- though there were people who still give out sample ballots and pieces of it were lying or scattered on the street, the place is fairly neat-- give it to Marikeños who have the habit of looking for trash cans to throw unwanted pieces of paper, as well as the janitors and volunteers who makes sure that the surroundings are kept clean. At the school's main entrance, you'll see the lay-out of all classrooms as well as the list and assigned precincts of the voters per street. Very easy to comprehend. There were also guides ready to help out. Voters from Elm, Pine, Walnut and Redwood Streets were assigned a 2nd floor classroom, so off we went. Classrooms were well ventilated and clean. I left empty, and crossed-out a few slots from the city counsellors' list as well as the Senators' list.

I chose the Party List for Entreprenuers mainly because we had to make the most of the resources and wonderful ideas we have, as well as providing additional jobs. Most of the Party Lists are pointing toward corruption, human rights, manggagawang pinoy, which are okay, mind you-- but in my opinion, just waste time with rallies, voicing out complaints (ok lang kaso minsan parang nagpapapansin lang), sometimes crimpling the streets making it hard for the ordinary worker or employee to make a decent living. Haayyy.

I need a manicure.

Nanay's Day and the week that was...

Happy Mom's Day! Got a few greetings from friends, a 'sun' drawing from Diego (wow!) and a kiss from Andee. Their dad called (himala-- to ask how the kids were doing. No, no greetings here).

Went out with the whole family to have dinner at Barrio Fiesta Restaurant Ave., along Marcos Hiway. Had a grand time, sira nanaman ang diet. Was able to do a little catching up with Cak, since he now stays at a different nest now :-) Kakamiss din siya. A family member that gives more than emotional support just by listening and commenting (scolding?!?! hehe) .. and makes me realize the blessing I have. Drama! Thanks, bro. Late evening was spent watching ZsaZsa Zaturnnah Ze Moveeh DVD-- got to see scenes that were not included in the movie-- like the part when Didi was singing (Nakakasilaw Na Ilaw), which was one of the best parts of ze muzical but was deleted from the movie version.

It's back to work tomorrow evening! Ayoko pa. Was on VL and was well spent. Got to go out with friends, spent time by my lonesome (muni-muni ito!) , went swimming with Andee at Club Manila East and got a nasty tan.

The kiddie pool does not have a shade over it as compared to the overcrowded shaded adult pool at the other side. The kiddie pool is ok if you don't mind just wading, or sunbathing, and sharing the pool with, of course, other kids, a few yayas, and daddies. (Obviously, most moms were either at the shaded pool, or watching their tots from the shaded part of the kiddie area). We had fun. Next time we go back, it's with friends and/or family in tow!

Enrollment galore

Andee. Grade 3.
Diego. Senior Nursery.
Enrolled Andee last May 7th at St. Scholastica's Marikina , and Diego at Kids On Focus on May 10th.

Andee was with me because we had to get new uniforms for her. She's obviously grown and her blouses were way too small for her already. After an orderly queue at the Business Office and cashier, as well as getting her 13 big books at the school's bookstore, off we went to the Tuason Center for her uniforms. Had to have the seamstress take her measurements for blouse and skirt, instead of going for the standard S-M-L sizes which right now are so alanganin for her. Upon paying at the cashie, I also requested badges for her uniform. (St. Scho would have badges sewn on the left strap of their uniforms' skirts depending on what grade level you are in) In this case, the number "3" (for grade 3). Andee was asking how I'd be able to remove the Grade 2 badge from her uniform and change it to the new badge. I was able to answer when the cashier told her.. "Madali lang yan, bahala na si ATE diyan" (That's just easy, let your older sister handle that). Hehehe... that smile on my face stayed till we got home.

Diego's enrollment was a breeze, since the school is just a small one, -- but a great school. There were still tutorial classes ongoing for new students when we got there. I was hoping Diego would be admitted to Kinder. I was told that during trial classes and tutorials, they would be able to assess if Diego would be ready for Kinder or Nursery. He'll be turning 5 this June. Unfortunately, he'd need to put in extra effort... Kinder classes at Kids on Focus are already able to read. Andee and Jaki were graduates of this school too. Ok lang. I was actually concerned that Diego might be overaged by the time he gets to Prep. Had his picture taken too as a requirement. Aba! marunong nang ngumiti! Big boy na siya. (Had to re-take pic.. scanner not working)

Ghosts and FemaleNetwork.com

This late afternoon, Mama and I were having our coffee in the main dining room. Andee turned on the lights for the dining and it started to flicker. This usually happens. The big 'Sunflowers by Van Gogh' replica frame covers 4 light switches (each for dining, library, library side, and TV corner) which are directly behind it. The lights for the dining area and the library tend to flicker because of the weight of the frame. The switches for the library side and TV corner are not affected by this but we would really move the frame in order to switch those lights on.
All of the sudden, while Mama and I were talking, *click* went a light switch and the TV corner light went on. Our conversation was cut and we both look at where the light switched on, -- a bit baffled-- and we looked at each other.. "Narinig mo yon?!?!" (Did you hear that?). Naku, hair started to stand at the back of our necks. Mama had to go over to the big frame to move it and reached over behind it to turn off the switch for the TV corner light.....
This evening, at around 9pm Andee and I were again at the main dining area. Andee was doing blowpens while I was at the phone. Suddenly, the kitchen light turned on. We both suddenly looked toward the kitchen, then after a few seconds, the light went out. We looked at each other, and again, I felt hairs standing at the back of my neck and arms. I went over to the kitchen and checked the switch. It is (since 7pm) turned off.
Hmmm...this came out as a good thing because it prompted Andee to go upstairs (finally! it's past 9pm!). I was thinking if this has something to do with the little girl I've been seeing recently inside the house. She's about Andee's age, short hair and I always see her standing at our stairs. Shadow-shaped... black--smokey color. Not like last time when there was a long-haired lady in blue, or that guy in a white shirt... this time it's different.
Which made me remember---------
Around last month, while checking my StatCounter, I noticed a sudden surge of online visitors visiting a certain post in My Scratch Pad. The return URL points to Femalenetwork.com. Hmmm-- I don't remember visiting this site, or let alone, leave a link. So to the link I went. (I had to register pa). Finally, when I was finally able to log in to the site (it is actually forum-based) and I found where the link came from-- a forum under 'Ghosts, weird experiences! ' What the--?!?
So in I went. I saw the culprit! It was my brother Earl who joined the forum and placed the link to my post --the one with the strange figure in a picture.
The responses were very interesting. One that really caught me was suggesting that there might be some kind of a portal in the house-- that's why I see different people/entities all the time. Parang dunadaan lang before they go on to where they are supposed to go to--- stopover? pitstop? That could explain why I see a particular figure for just a couple of days, and then they're gone. Then I see another one...
Interesting.

Compound Nevus

"A congenital growth or mark on the skin, such as a mole or birthmark."

Compound nevus was on the biosy report for the mole that had to be taken off of Andee's left eye. Or in Andee's doctor's words... "It's an ordinary mole".

Salamat naman!!!

More sales please!

My JustCATS store, same as last year, picked up its sales just before Mother's Day. And it looks like it has become a trend already, or a pattern. But unlike last year when the more popular designs sold were under my 'Here, Kitty, Kitty' collection, this time more sales are pouring in for 'Cat Signs' and 'My Cat, My Life'.
Hay naku, Mother's Day...
